• HZ. ABU BAKR SIDDIQUE (RZ)
Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) was Prophet Muhammad’s (SAS) most famous companion; he was first free person among Maccans who declare his faith in Prophet Hood of Muhammad (SAS). He was from Banu Taym tribe of Macca, an important tribe in Macca. “Abu Bakr” is his nick name (Kunyn), original name was Abdul Ka’aba. Prophet Muhammad (SAS) gave him the name Abdullah after Islam came into existence. Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) was companion of Prophet Muhammad (SAS) in the cave. Al Ateeq and Al Siddique are his Sobriquets (Title) his father’s name was Abu Kuhafah, mother’s name was Ummul Hayrsalma.
Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) is first rightly guided Khalifa after Muhammad’s (SAS) demise. He is first among Ashara Mubashra, during the age of ignorance (Jihalat) he first married with a woman named Qutayla bint Abdu Luzza and they had a son named Abdullah (RA) and a daughter named Asma (RA). Aayesh (RZ) and son Abdul Rehman (RZ) were born from his second wife Umme Ruman.
During the age of ignorance Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) was well liked person and known for his admirable virtues. He had the duty of overseeing the payment of blood money and compensation in Maccah. He was also involved in textile and clothing trades. He spent his capital for service of Islam. He was famous for his honesty and fair dealings. Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) worked for conversion of Kafirs to Islam. At his hand many big peoples and leaders from important and powerful tribes converted to Islam in Macca. He protected the helpless slaves who were subjected to torture by Mushriks (Idolaters) of Macca. He spent his money to buy the captured slaves. He remained with Prophet Muhammad (SAS) for 13 years in Macca. Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) started to cry from joy when he realized from Muhammad (SAS) that his migration was planned by Allah with Prophet Muhammad (SAS).
Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) fought in the battle of Badr, Uhud and Trench. He participated in many military expeditions of Tayaf, Kaibar, Macca and Hunain.
After Prophet Muhammad’s (SAS) demise Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) was elected as his first Caliph (Khalifa) of Islam by the companions like Umar (RZ). After his election as first caliph he gave his first speech in Masjid he said…
“I am not best among you, but I have become your leader. If I do my duty fairly, help me, if I am mistaken, correct me. As long as I obey Allah and his messenger, obey me, if I rebel, your obedience is not obligatory.”
Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) fought battles against fake Prophets, those who said “we pray but we would not give the poor tax.” He suppressed rebellions in Baharin, Oman, Yeman, Muhra. He added Hira Ajnaddin and Anbar to the Islamic world by means of war. During his reign Iraq was conquered and important cities in Syria were taken.
Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) in consultation with other companion (RZ) of the Prophet Muhammad (SAS) took up in hand the task of collecting and composing the Quran in book form. For the task he formed a committee headed by Zaid bin Thabit (RZ), the chief scribe of Prophet Muhammad (SAS). Zaid bin Thabit (RZ) collected the data of discrete part of Quran from Huffaz, made a copy of it and handed over to Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) hence the Quran was compiled in the form of book and copy was put in the safe custody of Hz. Hafasa (RZ), widow of Prophet Muhammad (SAS).
When Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique (RZ) became ill he in consultation with the companions (RZ), nominated Umar bin Khattab (RZ) as second Khalifa. His sole left his body at the age of 63 years like Prophet Muhammad (SAS), whom he loved so much. According to Hz. Abu Bakr Siddique’s (RZ) will he was buried next to Prophet Muhammad (SAS), with his face at sholder level of Muhammad (SAS).
“Inna li Allahi wa Inna ilai hi rajiuna.”
